STARTING THE MEDALLION

After all the hardware is assembled and the Software and Drivers are installed you are ready to start

using your Medallion system.

· On the Start Menu, select the Programs command, then select Medallion, and finally select

FAS.

CHECK LIST FOR VERIFYING OPERATION

1. Software Installed? See Software Installation.

2. Hardware Connected? See Hardware Assembly.

3. Hardware Switches Set? Set Switches to Factory Default Settings.

See Configuring the Medallion.

4. Start your Application

5. Connect Signal to Channel 1 Use Internal Signal Generator

6. Turn On Signal Generator Press SGON button in FAS.

7. Start Data Acquisition Click the ACQUIRE button.

You should see a signal with a 500 Hz Peak in Plot Display window #1.

TROUBLESHOOTING THE PCMCIA CARD

If your PCMCIA card is not responding:

1. Open the Control Panel.

2. Double-click on the Devices icon to open the Devices window. Look for the “cac” entry.

Under normal operations, the Status should = Started, and the Startup should = Automatic, as

shown below.

· To start “cac” without restarting the computer; highlight the “cac” line, and click the Start

button.

· To enable/disable “cac;” click the Startup button and click the appropriate “Enable/Disable”

button.

· To set how the device will activate after future startups, click the HW Profiles button. We

suggest you select Automatic, as shown below.

TROUBLESHOOTING DRIVERS INSTALLATION (WINDOWS 95/98 ONLY)

If the Medallion DSP does not appear under Other Devices, you must delete the PCMCIA Driver by

following these steps.

1. Run “regedit”

2. Open folder “HKey-LOCAL MACHINE”

3. Open folder “ENUM”

4. Open folder “PCMCIA”

5. Delete file “CAP3210-IBF9”

Return to the beginning of your Drivers installation.
